Digital design workshop for seniors

On 4 occasions within the last 3 months, the senior citizens' meeting place in Großenhain An exciting workshop took place that introduced seniors to the creative world of Canva. The aim of the workshop was to give participants basic knowledge about the design tool and to show them how they can implement their own creative projects.

The workshop began with a comprehensive introduction to Canva's user interface. The participants were enthusiastic about the wide range of possibilities the program offers. The course leader explained clearly how to create attractive designs with just a few clicks. Important design guidelines were also discussed, such as the selection of colors, fonts and layouts. These basics are crucial for creating visually appealing and effective communication tools.

After the theoretical introduction, we went straight into practice. The seniors were given the task of designing their own postcards. With a lot of enthusiasm and creativity, they implemented their newly acquired knowledge and designed individual postcards for various occasions. The joy with the resulting works was great, and there was a lot of laughter and discussion.In the second half of the workshop, the focus was on creating thematic photo books. The participants learned how to present their personal photos in an appealing way. Particular attention was paid to the design of layouts and the selection of suitable backgrounds.

The seniors were excited about the opportunities to creatively capture their memories.Another important point of the workshop was the discussion of the requirements of printing companies. The participants learned which specifications are important for printing and how to use print templates effectively to optimally prepare their designs. This information was especially valuable for those who actually want to have their designs printed later.At the end of the workshop, all participants received a workbook that summarized the steps learned. This book serves as a valuable resource for future projects and helps the seniors to continue to apply what they have learned.

The positive response from participants showed great interest and enthusiasm for digital design possibilities. The workshop was not only an opportunity for creative development, but also a valuable learning experience for everyone involved. Many seniors expressed a desire for further workshops to further develop their skills and start new creative projects.
